Specialist in general and oncological surgery, Head of the Maria Sklodowska-Curie Institute – Oncology Centre Department of Bone/Soft Tissue Sarcoma and Melanoma in Warsaw, Director’s Representative of the Oncology Centre – Institute in Warsaw for Clinical Research, Vice-President of the Scientific Council of the Oncology Centre – Institute; graduate of the Medical Faculty of the Medical University of Lodz.
His main scientific focus is on skin melanomas, and soft tissue and bone sarcomas (including GIST). A member of associations: ASCO, Connective Tissue Oncology Society (former member of the Board of Directors CTOS), PTO, ESSO, the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer – EORTC (Ex-Chair of Membership Committee), the Polish Society of Clinical Oncology and the Secretary of the Polish Society of Oncological Surgery.
Author and co-author of over 120 original scientific papers published in national and foreign magazines (Impact Factor above 3,500, citation index over 12,000, index-H 46) and several textbooks (including the Minister of Health team award for the textbook Cancer Surgery) and Polish and international clinical recommendations.
Participant of many international research programs (including sentinel node biopsy in skin melanoma, molecular tests in patients with sarcoma, cutaneous melanoma and GIST, multicentre clinical studies), member of the Global Melanoma Task Force, co-coordinator of the GIST Clinical Registry and Polish Bone Cancer Registry, Deputy Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Oncology Centre – Institute in Warsaw, former member of the Council of the National Centre for Research and Development, representative of the Oncology Centre – Institute in Warsaw in the Network of Core Institutions EORTC, Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Melanoma Academy, Chairman of the Team of the Minister of Health for National Oncological Strategy.
